The way the lake replenishment forces you to plan two moves ahead is exactly what I wanted, and the river tile adjacency puzzle keeps every round tense. I've already played it three times this week with the same group, and nobody's gotten tired of it yet.

I was worried the lake replenishment mechanic might feel tacked-on, but it actually creates really clever push-your-luck decisions. My first game took about 45 minutes, and we immediately played again to try different strategies.

The tension between placing and collecting keeps every turn interesting, especially once the lake starts running low and you have to think two moves ahead. Played it three times the first night, and the six river tiles never felt repetitive.
